John McAdam District 1
Wide Charity Game
For the last few
years, District 1 has had a District-Wide Charity game which raised money
for the Canadian Bridge Federation ( CBF) Charity Fund. This game
was very capably chaired by John McAdam. In December 2006 John
unfortunately passed away, and the District 1 Board decided to honour his
memory by naming the event after him.

here for Changes in Masterpoint Rankings
This section will honour District 1 players who, after much hard work, have attained a new Masterpoint category.
Because of the numbers, we have decided to start with Life Master and higher ranks. We will go back to Jan 1/08 and try to update approximately every 3 months.
Below is a description of the masterpoint system, a definition of all the ranks

*A member who held no red masterpoints or fraction thereof prior to Jan.
1, 1969, is required to possess at least 50 red and gold masterpoints, of
which at least 25 must be gold. Any new member or player in an inactive
status for six months or more after Jan. 1, 1999, will be required to earn
50 black points to become a Life Master.
**This is the highest rank in the
ACBL. It requires 10,000 masterpoints and one victory in one of the
following: NABC+ event with no upper masterpoint limit, Open or Women's
Team Trials or its equivalent, or any of the following WBF events: Bermuda
Bowl, Venice Cup Rosenblum Cup, McConnell Cup, Open Pairs, Women's Pairs,
Team Olympiad or Women's Team Olympiad.
***Online points count towards
rank advancement - however, no more than 1/3 of the requirements for a
particular rank may come from online play. For example, to make Club
Master requires 20 MPs - a player would need 13.33 (or more) points from
face-to-face competition in addition to the 6.67 (or more) earned online -
any online points over 6.67 would not count towards earning the rank.
